THE MIGHTY IONS - Face Rakin' Rock CD (2000)

Obscure early 80's Garage rock-n-rasslin' from Boston featuring former members of UNNATURAL AXE and LE PESTE. A few of them also played on GG ALLIN's first album (Track 24 "Don't Talk To Me" was a MIGHTY IONS original). They never released anything during their existence except for "Pedro Morales" (sung to the tune of "California Uber Alles") on the 1985 compilation, 'Claws!'. Being a longtime fan of wrestling and songs about wrestling, I'm very disappointed in myself that I'm just discovering them now.

REAGAN YOUTH - Where The Hell Are You Now? EP (2019)

This Reagan Youth were a short lived hardcore band from Denver Colorado who existed between late 1981 to early '82 and were obviously unaware there was already a band in NYC with the same name. Which is understandable considering Dave Insurgent and company didn't have anything out at that time. At least these guys stuck around long enough to record this 7" before splitting off to play in WHITE TRASH, FRANTIX and BUM KON. It's just took 37 years for it to finally be released.

FATALITEES - Yeah. Right. LP (2013)

Juvenile noise from Wappingers Falls, New York. This LP is their entire 1983 demo tape plus a few bonus cuts.

VA - Killed By Hardcore Vol. 5 LP (2026)

It only took 23 years but someone finally put out another Killed By Hardcore comp. Was it done by the same peeps who did the others? Who knows and quite frankly, who cares? When I first saw this online I thought, "Wait... was there a volume four?!" But I'm assuming that would be Killed By Finnish Hardcore which might be why there's no Finnish hardcore on here.

In the days where seemingly everything's been reissued or at least  on YouTube, I was actually surprised to discover some bands that I'd never heard before. Anyways, today's the 15th anniversary of this little music blog so here's my gift to you, CHEERS!!

N/N - Pasivos Muertos EP (2010)

Another sick HC band fronted by Martin Sorrondeguy (LOS CRUDOS, LIMP WRIST, CANAL IRREAL, NEEDLES, HARTO etc etc). They also released a 7" before this one that I'm gonna have to keep my eyes out for.

KOWARD - S/T EP (2012)

Discharged hardcore from Boston who's members would all go on to play in other similar bands such as BLOODSUCKERS, CONTINGENT, THE MASSACRED, SKINNED ALIVE,  among many others.

CULTURE KIDS - S/T LP (2012)

Last time I posted anything by these guys was was their self-titled 7" waaay back in 2012. Just copped this record last month, completely forgetting that I had already it on cassette.

THE DETONATORS - Yer Child's War single (1985)

A little 2 song sampler released between their debut and sophomore album that features a cut from each (despite the back cover stating they're both off the second LP). I still don't own either so this single will have to do for now. More Detonators HERE and HERE.

VA - Viva Umkhonto! LP (1987)

Benefit compilation for Umkhonto We Sizwe (the military wing of ANC in South Africa) that featured 13 bands from Europe and the USA. I'm a little bummed my copy didn't come with the 20 page booklet.

VATICAN COMMANDOS - Full Discography 1983-2015 CD (2023)

As per request. Not exactly a full discography here as it's missing some compilation cuts. Either they forgot about 'em or couldn't get permission, who knows and who cares... amirite? And yes I know Moby was their guitarist at one point, but he only played on tracks 1-6 and 40-42.

PLAIN WRAP! - Original Music For A Generic World LP (1985)

Had I not picked up that PLAIN WRAP/MOX NIX split CD last year, I may have flipped past this LP when I saw it in a local shop recently. Glad I didn't because it's a pretty fun album. What I like about it is that every track sounds different without being too all over the place, know what I mean? One gripe I have about punk and hardcore nowadays is the complete opposite. A lot of bands just put out releases where all the songs sound the same without any standouts. Not the case here. If you're into groups like WHITE FLAG, you probably already know about these guys.

BLOODY HAMMER - Apathy Is Bliss EP (2010)

Now back to the Houston Bloody Hammer. You know, the one that dropped that sick EP "When In Rome" back in 2011? Here's the debut 7" and yeah, it also rips!

CORRUPTION - Infest Of Rage tape (1986)

California crossover that's leans more towards the hardcore side than the metal. This ripper was ripped from 2019 cassette reissue.

DEATH WISH - S/T EP (2014)

I first heard this Boston band on the "Hold Your Ground" comp 30 years ago with their standout track "Break The Chains". They recorded 7 songs in late '83 with tracks 2,3 & 6 first released as a 7" in 1989, and reissued in 1992 on the sketchy German label Lost & Found Records. While it's great the full session was finally put out last decade, it would've been even greater if this had record actually had a cover along with an insert with a bio/history, pictures, flyers, lyrics...something! Instead it was just housed in a plain black outer sleeve like a dance single from the 90's. These songs deserved better than that, but I guess it's better than nothing.

PRIMITIVE PACT - Injustice EP (2014)

Has it really been 11 years since this 7" came out? Doesn't seem that long ago. Peep their 2015 'Acid Rain' tape as well if you haven't already.

POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT - S/T LP (2006)

Hardcore from Boston that doesn't sound like your typical Boston Hardcore. Members also played in BLANK STARE, SOCIAL CIRCKLE, EXIT ORDER, BLOODY GEARS, CHAIN RANK, etc etc. I guess this recording was too long for a 7" so it was released as a single-sided 12". Or maybe it was supposed to be a split LP and the other band bailed on them?

LOST CAUSE - Forgotten Corners LP (1982)

Somewhat obscure So-Cal punk, though you may be familiar with their cut 'Born Dead' from the '82 comp "American Youth Report". That track was also on their 1981 self-titled 7" which had a different singer and is better than their sophomore effort here. Not saying this a terrible record or anything, just not as good as their debut in my humble opinion.

LOOSE NUKES - It's...Loose Nukes EP (2019)

One of the best demos from the latter half of the last decade. With a resume of past and present bands like BLOOD PRESSURE, DIRECT CONTROL, WHITE STAINS, DARK THOUGHTS, MACHINE GUN, SICKOIDS (and MANY more), would you expect anything less?
