UNWANTED - Shattered Silence LP (1984)

Along with Stretch Marks, Unwanted were one of Winnipeg's biggest HC bands in the early-mid 80's. Unfortunately their only vinyl output isn't the best representation of them due to it's flat production. Trust Records oughta give this LP the remix and remaster treatment since they've been reissuing other BYO releases. I included 'Tanks Keep Rolling' from the "Something To Believe In" compilation as an added bonus.

RUGGEDY ANNES - Jagged Thoughts EP (1985)

Sole release by this all-female band with a bit of a post-punk edge. Produced by Jimmy Green of Personality Crisis. You may recognize 'Casual Design' from the compilation, "It Came From The Pit".

PERSONALITY CRISIS - Live At The Calgarian (1981-82)

What better way to kick off 2015 than with not one but two live gigs by Personality Crisis? The sound quality isn't too bad, "Piss On You" cuts off at the end and someone accidentally records herself about nine seconds into "Burning Rain". But hey, who cares? Too bad a lot of these songs were never officially released. Tracks 1-14 were recorded sometime in July 1981, and the rest were recorded sometime in 1982. No exact date given. Track titles aren't 100% either, so if anyone knows the correct song names, let me know!

PERSONALITY CRISIS - Demos (1981-83)

I scored this on a trade, along with a bunch of other stuff (including that Young Canadians live set I posted two weeks ago), so stay tuned. Tracks 1-8 aren't actually demos but rough mixes from the "Creatures For Awhile" LP, recorded Sept 1983 at Ocean Studios, Vancouver. The only difference from the album versions besides the mix is the false start at the beginning of track 5 followed by who I presume is Mitch bellowing, "Listen up geek... this is Personality Crisis!". 

Tracks 9-13 was their 2nd demo, recorded sometime between late 1981 and early 1982 in Calgary. Songs 11-13 originally appeared on the cassette compilation, "Charred Remains". 9-12 later showed up on the 1990 UK reissue of "Creatures". Tracks 14-16 was the band's unreleased first demo, recorded January 1981 in Winnipeg. This was right before they changed their name from Le Kille. I still find it baffling that no one's released a proper discography of these guys.

PERSONALITY CRISIS - Take A Drunk To Dinner LP (2011)

I'm not sure exactly when this bootleg came out, but the art on the back says 2011, so I'm going with that. This is a great soundboard recording, not taped from the audience or with a boombox. Recorded live in Seattle, 9/6/83 on their 'Take A Drunk To Dinner Tour'. 'The Jam' was used as the B-Side for their posthumous "Twilight's Last Gleaming" 7 inch. Strangely enough, that song is not listed anywhere on this record, along with 'Intoxication' (Rancid X cover) and 'People In Glass'. 'Demolition Girl' is a cover by The Saints. This show was also videotaped (see below), too bad it was never released.
