These hosers hailed from Hamilton Ontario, the same hometown as Teenage Head and Forgotten Rebels. Although these songs were recorded in 1979, tracks 1-2 weren't released until 2000 and 3-4 in '04 as 7" singles. The title track would've been considered a classic and featured on at least a few Killed By Death / Bloodstains type comps had it come out back then.
This was a recent blind purchase or as I like to call it, a deaf purchase as I'd never heard any of the bands on this comp before buying it. But hey it's a Bloodstains record, they're always chock full of obscure gems. This'll be right up your alley if you like your punk rock a little more on the glam rock/power pop side.
Come on, you didn't think I was gonna leave y'all hanging and not post Vol II, did ya? I was lucky to score these tapes as they sold out pretty quick and for good reason. BTW, that Der Stab song is actually 'Tracers' not 'Truth Comes Out' if anyone was wondering.
Let's start 2022 off with a bang. I'm guessing this wasn't put together by the same folks who did the original Bloodstains records due to the fact there's no liner notes and it's on cassette. But it's still an awesome mix of lost and rare jams, so who cares? Why has no one reissued that Saigon record yet?!
Debut single by those "Eyes Of A Stranger" guys. This is the first pressing (before getting signed) that includes the punky B-side "Make Some Noise". It's also worth noting this their only recording with Ian Tiles (aka Buddy Selfish) of Pointed Sticks and Victorian Pork fame on drums.
Sophomore 7" from this early Brisbane band. Ripped from the 2011 reissue which I recently bought off a buddy of mine for $2. Well worth it IMO. Now I gotta track down their debut EP from '79.
Sampler of South Africa's first wave of punk, at a time when the country was under Apartheid and television was first introduced only a few years prior(1976!). More than half the cuts on this tape were taken from rough-ass live recordings, but the studio tracks make it worth a listen.
New bootleg comp of obscure late 70's - early 80's punk & new wave that'll sit nicely among your Killed By Death and Bloodstains records. Volume 2 out now!
