KAOS - Fosas Comunes CD (2008)

 

There's gotta be over a hundred bands out there in the world called Kaos. But this particular band with that moniker is from Peru and has no relation to KAOS GENERAL from the same place and time period. These demo and live recordings have repackaged and reissued at least 4 or 5 different CD and vinyl releases so it shouldn't be too hard to track down for yourself. I wish they recorded more because I just really dig the singer's voice. Does anyone know if he was in any other bands?

VA - Punk Hardcore Subterraneo En Paraguay LP (2011)

 

Compilation of Paraguayan punk and HC from the 90's and 00's. My favourite band on this by far is Rabia Kallejera, I wonder if they have any more recordings? What's interesting (at least to me) is that the oldest track on here is from 1990 (which can also be found HERE). I'm thinking that it may very well be the first punk rock recording from Paraguay. Maybe it's just me but I'm kinda fascinated by countries that are late comers to the genre, like Ecuador.

Back from vacation with some Brazilian skate core that's got an obvious California influence. I discovered these guys through the classic Ataque Sonoro compilation. This disc compiles their self-titled LP(1987), demo(1985) and live tracks(1985-87).

Double dose of pure raw uncut Peruvian hardcore from the late 80's. While Kaos General sound a lot like their country's contemporaries from that time period, Situacion Hostil lean more towards the crossover/thrash side of the hardcore spectrum.

VA - Matado Por La Muerte LP (2017)

Like a lot of countries, punk rock didn't hit the shores of Ecuador until the mid 1980's with the formation of DESCONTROLADOS. In fact, they're the only band on this comp from that decade as the rest of the tracks were recorded in the 90's (and even the early 00's I think). But still this comp's full of rare gems so if you're like me and dig that South American punk shit then uh...dig in.

BASTARDOS SIN NOMBRE - Subterráneo Medellin LP (2013)

Another great discovery from the Medellin comp CS I posted last fall. I found this record for under $10 at a local shop last month. It's got the band's 1989 demo, their two 7"s from 1991-92 and some live stuff from 2012.

DESCONTROLADOS - S/T EP (1988)

Another discovery from the South America comp, this time from Ecuador. Originally released in 1988 on 12" and cassette, this was ripped from the 2006 bootleg 7" reissue. Is it just me or does the guy on the left kinda resemble Joey Shithead?

LOS INVASORES - El Ejecutivo EP (2006)

One of my favourite discoveries from that 80's South American cassette comp I posted back in September. These guys never released anything during their time except for 2 songs on the 1987 Uruguay compilation 'Rock 3'. This 7" features four songs from their 1986 demo.

Where as last week's comp covered bands from all over South America, this tape focuses strictly on the hardcore, punk & metal scene of Medellín, Colombia in the late 80's to early 90's. The liner notes on the cover above says it all.

VA - Hell On Earth Volume 1 EP (1995)

This 7" comp features bands from around the world playing different styles of punk and hardcore. Keep in mind this came out in the mid 90's so it might seem a bit dated to some, but there's still some good stuff on here. It was given to me by Tom Shields who played in local bands Seamen, Paste and Subverse.
