VA - Another Shot For Bracken LP (1986)

"This decent North American comp has something for every musical taste: powerful hardcore, funnypunk, melodic rock, reggae, a 70’s cover and a couple of mid-tempo standard tunes. F.O.D., A.O.D., DISSONANCE, and SCRAM stand out from the pack, but there could have been better tracks from the name bands overall."

VA - Record Collectors Are Pretentious Assholes 2 CD (????)

Another bootleg CD of rare 80's USHC. The KREMLIN KORPS EP is missing the song 'Abyss' even though it's listed. The NEGATIVE APPROACH set sounds like shit but features two unknown songs that don't appear anywhere else. PREMATURE BABY'S kinda suck.

SAVAGE AMUSED - S/T LP (2013)

Cheap local record shop find from last week. Vinyl reissue of this Pittsburgh band's 1985 cassette. They were only around for eight months but managed to open for the likes of SAMHAIN, THE EXPLOITED, UK SUBS, RAW POWER and AGNOSTIC FRONT. Bassist Alan Peters later had a stint in AF, playing on their 1987 album 'Liberty & Justice For...'.

QUARANTINE - Demo tape (2020)

Alright let's kick off 2021 with THE sickest(pun intended!) demo of 2020. They must've had a crystal ball naming themselves Quarantine considering this tape came out before the lockdown. I was able to score a copy before it sold out and it's still not up on Bandcamp so I figure it's fair game at this point. Featuring members of Chain Rank, Impalers, Power Trip, etc... so you know what's up.

AUS-ROTTEN - Fuck Nazi Sympathy EP (1994)

A friend of mine was getting rid of a bunch of old 7"s so I gladly took them off his hands. Many of them happen to be released by Havoc Records so I thought I'd make August Havoc records month. Going in chronological order here's the first one, which according to the Havoc website sold 22,000 copies. Judging by all the Aus-Rotten patches I see out there I guess it's not too surprising.

SCHOOLLY D - Gangster Boogie / Maniac 12" (1986)

Although Schoolly-D isn't the greatest rapper in the world, he'll always be one of my all-time favorites. This is his debut single, originally released in 1984 (ripped from a 1986 repress). 'Gangster Boogie' was definitely influenced by Run-DMC's "Sucker MC's", while the flip side "Maniac" sounds like a poor man's "Rockit". Not his most classic material, but I'd still rather listen to this than most of what passes for hip hop nowadays.

2. Gangster Boogie (M.C., M.C's) (Radio Version)
3. Maniac
