Just in time for Halloween, here's the third LP by my favourite Mexican band. Seems like they were going for a more horror punk sound on this one so it's not as hardcore as their previous material but still worth owning. Taken from the 2015 CD edition that includes 5 bonus tracks not on the original record.

BARRICADE / GASMASK - Split EP (2024)

Bootleg split 7" of two relatively unknown Japanese bands. Barricade's tracks are from the compilation, "Rock 'N Roll Boogie '83 Now Hits" LP and are their only known recordings. While Gasmask's are previously unreleased, recorded sometime in the mid 80's I presume.

I usually I don't go in for live records but I found this one super cheap last month. Plus it came with their 1987 Halloween Live II 7", so I added that as a bonus. There's nothing really Halloween about this except for the title....and their cover of "Monster Mash".

Nineties Anarcho-punk from Nanaimo, British Columbia. Members went on to form Third World Planet, taking these songs with them.

BARN AV REGNBUEN - Folk Uten Framtid LP (2006)

 

Frantic hardcore from the mid 80's that could only have come out of Norway. Hang on... has anyone ever referred to hardcore from Norway as 'Norsecore'? If not I'm coining that shit right now! Anywho, this is the band's discography LP that's got both of their EPs plus compilation cuts, etc...

Second album (don't let the title fool you) and probably best by these guys. You don't really see their records around that often as they're all long out of print. This wasn't cheap or in the best shape (as you can see) but it was definitely worth it.

VA - Another Shot For Bracken LP (1986)

 

"This decent North American comp has something for every musical taste: powerful hardcore, funnypunk, melodic rock, reggae, a 70’s cover and a couple of mid-tempo standard tunes. Lost Generation were a long running Connecticut punk band who like many of their peers went metal in the later half of the 80's. Luckily this collection only covers their "punk years". Doesn't the cover art and title looks like one of those cheap CD punk comps that were popular in the 90's?

Unofficial D.R.I. live LP featuring two sets. Side A is definitely an audience recording while the flipside is off the soundboard. The track listing on the back cover isn't 100% correct but what do you expect from a bootleg?

Hearing this tape for the first time you might think it was a lost demo recorded sometime between the late 80's and early 90's. A lot of new bands try to sound "retro" and "old school", but these dudes actually nailed it. They've since put out a few digital-only releases with better production.

BUNCHOFUCKINGOOFS - Theres No Solution So Theres No Problem EP (1986)

 

Debut double 7" by Toronto's most notorious. I think they might've been the first punk band I ever heard of. I remember seeing them on a news report or short documentary when I was like 11 or 12. The narrator was talking about this group who's name they couldn't say out loud so they just quickly flashed their name on the screen. Suffice to say, a rock group having a swear word in their name blew my 6th grade mind! HAHAHA
